GALALA, IRAQ: Mohammad Abdul Rahman scars a tree's bark to release sap that will be made into traditional Kurdish chewing gum.<br />

Bnysht, a Kurdish is chewing gum made from the sap of the Daraban tree.  The sap is only harvested during July and August for 6 weeks using clay cups to catch the liquid as it is drawn for the tree's bark.<br />
