LALISH VALLEY, IRAQ: Yezidi women sit by a painting in the Lalish Temple as they wait for the sun to set to begin their New Year's celebration.  The painting depicts a Yezidi woman praying to the sacred peacock...The Yezidis, a minority religious group found in northern Iraq, celebrate Chwar Shema Sur (Red Thursday), as part of their New Year festival.  The Yezidis are the religious descendants of Zoroastrians and as a religious minority in Iraq are often targeted by terrorists.
